When members of the local Dunchurch Pantomime Group ('The Pantomaniacs') wanted to commemorate the untimely passing of their long time Director, Don Townend, they decided to commission the design and creation of a bespoke chair. More importantly they wished to mark his outstanding contribution to the group. Once completed the chair would be used in the Village Hall where Don had been Founder Treasurer and Trustee. They discussed the brief with local resident Neil Stevenson and set him the task of designing a truly unique, practical and amusing piece, which would be used as the 'Royal Throne' in future productions. Mike Judge, Production Director of group said “Neil came up with a number of proposals but the one that we chose fulfilled the brief brilliantly. The Chairman's Chair/Royal Throne will be a permanent reminder of someone we were all proud to know as, our friend."
