The Company is not new to exporting, but following an invitation from UKTI, N.E.J. Stevenson has decided to attend the fourth annual ‘Exclusive Showcase of High Quality British Design’, which takes place in Dubai on the 1st November 2010. The event, organised in partnership between UKTI, Advantage West Midlands, North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the British Embassy, aims to provide many of Britain’s best businesses with the opportunity to penetrate this high spending but demanding marketplace.
Whilst Dubai did exploit its oil and gas reserves through the 1960’s the sheikdom failed to produce these commodities in sufficient quantities compared to that of neighbouring Abu Dhabi and so growth needed to come via a different source. Inevitably Dubai became an emerging centre for business, thanks in no small part, to its multi-cultural society, its ‘westernised’ attitudes and the fact that its entrepôt stance means imported goods do not incur additional duties and taxes. It is, as a result of these changes, the demand for construction and associated services has boomed in the past 15 years. All of which leads us to believe we have many attributes necessary for a successful show in Dubai.
We will let you know how the exhibition went later in the year.
