This month marked a significant milestone in British history as Queen Elizabeth II became only the second British monarch to reign for over 60 years. To commemorate such a magnificent achievement John Walker & Sons released 'Diamond Jubilee', a blended whisky steeped in the finest traditions.
This was for many individuals the culmination of a huge amount of work full of intricate detail that involved an eclectic mix of some of the Country's finest craftsmen. From the master blenders and master coopers at the distillery to the silversmiths, calligraphers and of course ourselves the cabinetmakers, this project has evolved over many a month.
On February 6th 2012, the day that marked both Queen Elizabeth's accession to the throne and the death of her father King George VI, John Walker & Sons invited members of the World's press to Scotland to see the decanting of the first of 62 finished pieces (this one destined for Her Majesty the Queen).
With a barrage of camera shutters heard clearly in the background, the event will be remembered by all those involved for years to come.
